CF Patriots 10, Daytona State 3 (Baseball)

The Central Florida baseball team took its place in the FCSAA State Tournament with an emphatic 10-3 win at Daytona State on Monday.
The win, coupled with FSC-Jacksonville's loss to Lake-Sumter on Monday, puts CF four games ahead of the Stars with three games to play. The Patriots still have a chance to catch front-running Santa Fe for the conference title. Click here to view the full standings.

Offensive heroes for the Patriots included Yoenny Gonzalez (4-for-4, 4 RBI, 3 hits, 2 solo home runs); Kevin Games (3 hits, run); Christian Coburn (3 hits, run); and Josh Whitchurch (hit, 2 runs). Click here for the full box score.


CF (29-17, 14-7 Mid-Florida Conference) will advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2009. The Patriots will play an undetermined opponent in the tournament's first round Thursday, May 3 at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.

The Patriots play their home finale Wednesday at 3 p.m. against FSC-Jacksonville.
