Central Florida took its second women's basketball Mid-Florida Conference loss in as many games Saturday afternoon, falling to host Daytona State 56-46.
TiChina Mitchell scored 15 and Briana Gibson added 10 for the Lady Patriots.
The loss has sobering implications for CF (9-11, 0-2 MFC), though plenty of time remains in the 12-game conference season. Santa Fe, which won at CF on Saturday, and Daytona joined CF last year as the MFC's three FCSAA State Tournament representatives. This year, only two spots are allotted the MFC, meaning at least one of the three contenders will be left home from Marianna.
CF returns home Wednesday in search of its first conference win. Hillsborough visits Ocala at 6 p.m.
