CF Patriots 102, St. Johns River 56 (MBB)

Central Florida stayed undefeated in Mid-Florida Conference men's basketball play Wednesday with an epic 102-56 rout of St. Johns River.

The defending conference champion Patriots (16-5, 3-0 MFC) have now recorded wins over three of its four MFC rivals, with only FSC-Jacksonville yet to play. CF will play each opponent three times in the 12-game MFC schedule.

A rough start for both squads gave way to an early CF run as the home team built a 7-1 lead 4 minutes into the game. Will Saunders' spot-up 3-pointer with 12:15 to play pushed the lead into double digits at 17-5. The Patriot advantage ballooned to 29-12 with 5:45 remaining before halftime, and the second half was academic.

The Patriots' offensive numbers were staggering. They scored 63 of their 102 points after halftime. They made 13 of 29 three-point attempts. All 11 players on the roster scored at least 5 points, including 4 in double figures, but none scored more than Christian Martinez's 18. Will Saunders added 15 and Jeremiah Eason chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Defensively, CF held the still-winless Vikings to 34 percent shooting on the game.

CF visits FSC-Jacksonville on Saturday. The Patriots' next home game is Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. against Daytona State.
