CF Lady Patriots 71, St. Petersburg 68 (WBB)

Another brilliant shooting exhibition by Central Florida sophomore Quinnecia Twine fueled a thrilling 71-68 women's basketball win over visiting St. Petersburg on Saturday.

Just days after hitting 8 three-pointers in a win over Indian River, Twine turned in a 27-point performance to help CF pull off an upset of the state's fifth-ranked team. The Atlanta native made 7 of 10 three-pointers and 6 of 8 free-throw attempts while adding 3 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists.

Freshman TiChina Mitchell delivered one of the finest efforts of her young collegiate career with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double.

CF (6-5) erased a 10-point first-half deficit to tie the game at halftime, and shot 50 percent from the field in the second half to earn the narrow victory.

The game wrapped up the two-day, eight-game Florida Colleges Shootout, and represented the Lady Patriots' final home appearance of the calendar year. They'll take to their home court again Jan. 7 as rival Santa Fe visits to open Mid-Florida Conference play.
