Central Florida took a narrow loss in its 2011-12 men's basketball season opener, falling 73-70 to Illinois NJCAA program Parkland at Hutchinson, Kan.
The Patriot backcourt carried the offense, led by returning sophomore point guard Hunter Williams' 17 points. Sophomore transfer Christian Martinez added 15 points off the bench, while returning sophomore guard Brian Pace chipped in 14.
CF (0-1) continues its three-game stint in Hutchinson's annual season-opening invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Patriots' home opener is Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 pm against Pasco-Hernando.
