CF (8-2) produced a valiant effort in the fourth and decisive set, recovering from a 16-9 deficit to tie the set at 20 apiece before a seasoned Conquistadors squad secured the win.
Christine Pinder had 17 kills and Vanessa Benke 13 kills for the Patriots, who played without three projected starters in setter Ellie Harp and hitters Rebekah Reeves and Carolline Reis. All are expected back over the next few weeks.
The Patriots take to the road again for a three-week stretch that includes their first Mid-Florida Conference match, a Sept. 13 visit to Lake-Sumter. They return home Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 pm against Warner University.
