Three games into its inaugural Mid-Florida Conference season, the CF Patriots volleyball team has grown into a dominant force.

CF on Thursday took a visit to reigning MFC champion FSC-Jacksonville and swept the Stars off their home court, 25-20, 25-10, 25-16.

"Tonight proved that as a team we are truly coming together as one," said head coach Flavia Siqueira. "We have had so many hurdles to jump, and hopefully we will continue to improve."

Sophomore Division I transfer Christine Pinder fulfilled her leadership role in her new team's biggest game to date, turning in a standout all-around performance with 15 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Vanessa Benke added 9 kills and 9 digs.

With the victory, the upstart Patriots (18-3, 3-0 MFC) have conquered all three of their MFC rivals on the road, earning wins at Lake-Sumter, St. Johns River and now FSC-Jacksonville. They will host each of the three teams in Ocala in October to round out the six-game MFC schedule; the teams with the top two conference records at season's end advance to the state tournament in November.

The Patriots visit SCF-Manatee this weekend for non-conference action Friday and Saturday.

The win represents the team's second defining moment in as many days. On Wednesday, CF enjoyed the first national ranking in its young history, cracking the NJCAA poll at No. 20.
