Central Florida took a 5-0 non-conference loss at Pasco-Hernando on Friday. The loss dropped the Patriots to 20-30-1 entering the final week of the regular season.
Of greater import is Saturday's Mid-Florida Conference matchup with Daytona State, set for 1 p.m. at Goodlett Field. The Patriots need a win to keep their dwindling postseason hopes alive, especially considering second-place St. Johns River's win at Santa Fe on Friday. The Vikings' victory makes them 12-8, a full 3 games ahead of 9-11 CF with just 4 games remaining. Lake-Sumter and Daytona are also involved in the MFC scrum, in which the second-place finisher will join runaway champ Santa Fe at the state tournament in Lakeland.
