Central Florida rounded out its 2011 spring softball season Monday with a split of a home doubleheader against St. Johns River. The Patriots won the opener 8-0, then dropped the late game 10-1.
Sophomore star Jessica Knight allowed 4 hits and struck out 3 in a 6-inning win, and produced offensively with a solo home run in the third inning and a sacrifice fly an inning later. Jandrew Collins went 3-for-3, including a 2-run home run in the third, and collected 2 runs and 3 RBI. Jessica Lopez added a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored, Miranda Anderson had a double and a run scored.
Samantha Stewart scored the Patriots' lone run in the second game on another sacrifice fly by Knight.
The Patriots end their season at 16-43 overall and 4-20 in the Mid-Florida Conference.
