Central Florida's Mid-Florida Conference softball schedule opened in disappointing fashion Saturday as the Patriots dropped both halves of a home doubleheader to Lake-Sumter. The Lakers won by scores of 3-0 and 8-3.
Jessica Knight threw admirably in the opener, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs in a complete-game effort. The CF offense rebounded in the late game behind Miranda Anderson's home run and sacrifice fly, while Jandrew Collins added a hit and an RBI and Samantha Stewart a hit and a run scored. Knight, Jessica Lopez, Megan David and Kasie Cheney had multiple hits on the afternoon.
CF (12-25, 0-2 MFC) will look to climb back to .500 in the conference on Tuesday with a visit to St. Johns River. Its next home date is Thursday at 2 p.m. against Daytona State.
