Former Central Florida baseball star Andrew Jones is continuing to torment opposing pitchers at the NCAA Division II level.
Jones, a two-year Patriot starter and the
reigning Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year, owns a .417 batting average and a team-high 29 RBI as a junior slugger at the University of Tampa.
Jones and the
Spartans are currently in the thick of a
Sunshine State Conference race that also includes Patriot alumni at
Nova Southeastern in Luis Penate and Nick Avila and
Lynn in Shawn Kale and Dane Derstine. UT opens an SSC homestand against St. Leo and Rollins College on Friday.
