Central Florida saw a ninth-inning rally fall short Monday at Goodlett Field in a 4-2 loss to Daytona State.
The visiting Falcons picked up a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie. The Patriots responded in the ninth, plating a run and bringing the winning run to the plate before running out of outs.
Christian Coburn had 2 hits and Casey Smit a double to headline the Patriot offense.
