The Central Florida softball team took South Florida into extra innings Tuesday before falling short 9-8. The host Panthers also took the second game 11-1.
Pitcher Jessica Knight led the way offensively for the Patriots in the 8-inning opener, going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and 5 RBIs. Samantha Sibley and Amanda Roach produced the Patriots' lone run in the second game, as Sibley hit a leadoff triple in the sixth and Roach brought her home with an RBI double.
The trip to Avon Park concludes a lengthy road swing for the Patriots (2-10). They host Polk on Saturday at 1 p.m.
