The Central Florida baseball team staged an impressive comeback Monday but couldn't convert it to a win as host Polk State took an 8-6 decision.
CF trailed 6-0 after 7 innings, but used an offensive surge and a strong relief pitching effort from Kyle Moeder to tighten the game. Christian Coburn had a triple and 2 RBIs and Josh Whitchurch had 2 hits and a run scored to pace the offense; Moeder threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out 3.
CF (3-6-1) has the opportunity for immediate redemption as the Vikings visit Goodlett Field on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
