Hillsborough 3, CF Patriots 0; CF 7, St. Johns River 6; St. Petersburg 8, CF 3 (Softball)

Central Florida knocked off Mid-Florida Conference rival St. Johns River 7-6 in the midst of a three-game Saturday at St. Petersburg College's annual softball invitational. CF took losses in its other two games, falling 3-0 to Hillsborough and 8-3 to host St. Pete.

Kasie Cheney, the local prep product who joined the Patriots at the holiday break, drove in the winning run in the Patriots' non-conference victory over the Vikings. Entering the seventh and final inning trailing 6-5, CF staged a successful rally sparked by Brittany Baker's leadoff single. Samantha Sibley took first after being hit by a pitch, then Miranda Anderson drove in former Lake Weir High School teammate Baker with a game-tying single. Cheney's two-out infield single drove in Jessica Lopez, pinch-running for Sibley, from third for the walk-off win.

Anderson went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in the win, while Arika Fox went 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI and Megan David went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jandrew Collins hit a solo home run in the victory, then went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the game against the host Titans.

CF plays two more games at St. Pete on Sunday, facing Broward at noon and Pasco-Hernando at 2:30 p.m.
