Central Florida won its third consecutive softball game on Thursday with a 7-2 victory over Pasco-Hernando. The Patriots saw their win streak snapped in the second game of the doubleheader, falling 6-3.
The opening-game win was the product of a potent mix of pitching and offense. Jessica Knight allowed 8 hits and 2 unearned runs while striking out 6 in a powerful complete-game effort. The sophomore also added 2 hits, a run and an RBI, while Megan David notched a hit, a run and 2 RBI, Jandrew Collins collected 3 hits and scored twice and Samantha Sibley blasted a solo home run. David continued her strong recent play with 2 hits, a run and an RBI in the late game.
CF (5-14) has a busy weekend ahead with 5 games scheduled over Saturday and Sunday at St. Petersburg College's annual invitational tournament.
