Central Florida narrowly missed a doubleheader sweep on the road Thursday, falling to host Hillsborough 2-1 in 9 innings after winning the opener 4-0.
Sophomore Jessica Knight was the Patriot headliner on the mound and at the plate. She won the early game with an 8-strikeout, 4-hit effort over 6 innings and aided her own cause with a 2-run single, then yielded just 3 hits and an earned run in a complete game performance in the nightcap. Jandrew Collins and Megan David added a hit and a run scored to the victory, while Miranda Anderson went 2-for-4 and drove in CF's run in the late game.
CF (2-4) continues its early-season road trip Saturday at Palm Beach.
