Central Florida reiterated its Mid-Florida Conference dominance on Wednesday, trouncing second-place St. Johns River 108-80 at Palatka.
Mathiang Muo led an outside shooting barrage that should put the rest of the FCCAA on notice as the FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament approaches. The sophomore hit 5 first-half three-pointers, a third of CF's remarkable 15 three-pointers on the game, en route to a 25-point effort. Patriot power forward Kevin Foster led all scorers with 33 points.
CF (23-6, 9-2 MFC) clinched the MFC title on Saturday, and now has eliminated the possibility of a tie with SJR that would have given the Patriots the conference crown on the strength of a tiebreaker. Instead, the Patriots further established themselves as the class of the conference and set up a three-team, single-elimination tournament between SJR, Santa Fe and Daytona State that will determine the conference's second state tournament representative.
The Patriots, meanwhile, will wrap up their regular season on Saturday, hosting FSC-Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m.
