CF Patriots 101, FSC-Jacksonville 90, OT (MBB)
The Central Florida men's basketball team withstood the toughest test of its Mid-Florida Conference season to date on Wednesday, emerging from an overtime battle with FSC-Jacksonville with a 101-90 victory.
CF trailed by as many as 6 points midway through the second half, but recaptured the lead on a furious rally highlighted by two Kevin Foster three-point plays and Addison Smith's putback layup with just under 5 minutes to play. The Stars regrouped, however, and CF needed a Mathiang Muo free throw with 6 seconds to play to force overtime.
A dominant Patriots team made for an anticlimactic extra frame. Foster and Slobodan Miljanic swished three-pointers on consecutive possessions to stake the home team to a 6-point lead that it would never relinquish.
Smith led CF with a season-high 26 points on 10-for-13 shooting from the field. Foster contributed a monster double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, winning a stirring individual matchup with Stars big man Alex Smith. Hunter Williams and Muo added 12 apiece for the Patriots.

The win keeps CF (18-4, 4-0 MFC) unbeaten in MFC play and gives the Patriots a win over each of its four conference foes. The round-robin continues next week as the Patriots host Santa Fe on Monday, visit Daytona on Wednesday and host St. Johns River on Saturday, Jan. 29.
