Central Florida baseball coach Marty Smith landed a prized in-state recruit on Thursday, signing Tampa outfielder Dane Moore to a scholarship.
Moore, a senior outfielder with the Patriots of Tampa Freedom High School, posted a .479 batting average and .530 on-base percentage as Freedom's leadoff hitter, setting a school record for hits. He also recorded 7 doubles, a pair of home runs and 12 stolen bases.
CF head coach Marty Smith expects Moore, a 5-10, 175-pound left-handed hitter, to contribute immediately at the top of the Patriots' order while manning an outfield spot in either left or center.
