Central Florida dug itself a game deeper into its Mid-Florida Conference rut on Wednesday, falling at Lake-Sumter 10-6.

The Patriots (24-19, 9-11 MFC) dropped their sixth straight game despite home runs by Hunter Smith, Dru Jones and Jordan Zech. The loss ended CF's bid for the MFC title, as Santa Fe now holds a five-game edge on the Patriots with four games to play, and it further endangers CF's hopes of claiming one of the MFC's two FCCAA State Tournament spots. The Patriots trail St. Johns River and Lake-Sumter (each 11-9) by two games, with Seminole State (10-10) and Daytona State (9-11) in between. CF visits Daytona on Friday.
