Central Florida took its worst loss of the season at an unfortunate time on Wednesday, falling out of first place in the Mid-Florida Conference with an 12-2, 8-inning home loss to Lake-Sumter.
CF (23-13, 8-5 MFC) managed 9 hits, including 2 apiece by Kenneth Stalls, Casey Smit and Tito Mendoza, but left most of its runners stranded on base. Hunter Smith scored on a Dru Jones double in the fourth, and Smit crossed home via a Jordan Zech sacrifice in the seventh.
The Patriots fall a half-game behind Lake-Sumter in the MFC standings. They visit Seminole on Saturday in a make-up of Monday's rain-out.
