Central Florida took a big step toward the postseason on Saturday, travelling to Gainesville to knock off Santa Fe 93-86 in overtime.
The Lady Patriots (17-10, 3-4) did not quite clinch a postseason berth with the win over the already-crowned conference champion Lady Saints (17-9, 6-2), but did create some space between themselves and last-place FSC-Jacksonville (7-18, 1-5), who was idle on Saturday. The top three teams in the four-team conference will compete in the state tournament next month.
Jameshia Willis had her finest game of the season with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Tyeshia Battles had 25 points and 8 rebounds, Canvis Scott added 14 points and 8 rebounds and Amber Powe scored 6 of her 11 points in overtime. The Lady Patriots were also aided by the welcome return of sophomore star Markeshia Grant, even in a limited 19-minute outing.
