Central Florida salvaged an otherwise frustrating stint in the St. Petersburg Spring Invitational with a closing win, besting FCCAA No. 6 Polk State 7-5 behind a comprehensive offensive effort.
The list of offensive heroes was long for the Patriots. Jessica Chewning had 3 hits, scored a run and drove one in; Belinda Rennes had a run and an RBI; Kylie Ondriezek had 2 doubles and drove in a run; Jessica Knight notched 2 hits and scored twice; and Jandrew Collins had 2 RBIs and scored a run.
Starting pitcher Jordan Rambo pitched into the fifth, allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs, and Megan Still picked up the win in relief, allowing just 1 hit while recording the final 7 outs.
CF (3-12) looks to keep the runs coming on Tuesday, when it visits Pasco-Hernando to make up an early-season rainout.
