The Patriot softball team picked up its first victory of the young season on Thursday at Bradenton, taking the first game of a doubleheader from State College of Florida-Manatee by a 4-2 score. CF (1-3) dropped the nightcap 6-1.
Freshman pitcher Megan Still pitched a complete-game 4-hitter to pick up the victory in the early game, while Kylie Ondriezek drove in and scored a run and Jennifer Hunter and Jessica McClellan each notched an RBI. Jordan Rambo took the loss in the second game, but drove in Katie Hayes for CF's lone run. Freshman Erin McMahan added a pair of hits in the losing effort.
The Patriots return to Ocala for their home opener on Saturday, hosting Polk State in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
