A masterful pitching performance by freshman Jessica Knight earned the Patriots a 3-0 win in the opener of a doubleheader at Pasco-Hernando on Tuesday. CF dropped the nightcap 5-0.
Knight tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks and striking out six as the Patriots claimed the first half of the doubleheader. Knight and Kylie Ondriezek each drove in runs for the CF offense, while Jennifer Hunter went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Hunter notched 2 more hits in the late game, while Jessica McClellan and Katie Hayes added a hit apiece.
Tuesday's doubleheader replaced CF's originally-scheduled Feb. 2 visit to PHCC, which was cancelled due to weather. In a quirk of the schedule, Pasco gets a quick rematch on CF's home turf, visiting the Patriots (4-13) for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday.
