Central Florida 12, Polk State 0 (BASE)
Sophomore pitcher Shawn Kale made a successful return to the mound and his teammates carried their weight at the plate on Thursday at Goodlett Field as Central Florida routed Polk State 12-0 to improve to 3-0.
Kale made his first mound appearance since undergoing arm surgery in the fall of 2008. The 6-4 sophomore right-hander threw four innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball. With Kale exiting before the five-inning threshold for a win, Tim Luksha pitched two hitless innings of middle relief to pick up the victory.
For a few examples of CF's top-to-bottom dominance with the bats, Casey Smit had 2 runs and 2 RBIs, while Dru Jones and Kyle Bright each drove in 2 runs and Eric Green scored twice.
CF knocked Polk (3-1) from the ranks of the undefeated with the win, and will put its own perfect record on the line Friday at 3 p.m. as it hosts South Florida.
