Central Florida opened its spring softball season in unpleasant fashion on Saturday, dropping both sides of a doubleheader against South Florida in Avon Park. SFCC won the first game 9-3 and the second 14-4.
Jessica Chewning enjoyed a productive two games, going 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 runs scored in the opener and 3-4 with a double and an RBI in the nightcap. Fellow sophomore Katie Hayes went 2-for-3 in each game to aid the CF offense.
Jessica Knight and Megan Still took the losses on the mound for the Patriots (0-2).
