The Lady Patriots picked up its first Mid-Florida Conference victory Wednesday night at Daytona State, edging the host Lady Falcons 77-75 to improve to 1-1 in MFC play and 14-7 overall.
Sophomore forward Olivia Nino poured in 30 points, continuing a recent streak of impressive play. Tyeshia Battles added 14 and Shaunte Forward 12 as the No. 7 Lady Patriots survived a test from unranked Daytona State.
The win cleaned the slate from last week's disappointing conference opener, a 64-61 loss to Santa Fe. The Lady Patriots have a week until their next MFC matchup, a Dec. 20 visit to FSC-Jacksonville, and will pass the time with a Saturday visit to play Lurleen B. Wallace in Andalusia, Ala. CF's conference home opener falls on Jan. 27, the opener of a women's and men's doubleheader against Santa Fe.
