A majestic last-second play delivered the win of the season for the Lady Patriots, a 53-52 victory at Chipola on Monday night.
Down one with 1.9 seconds to play, Tyeshia Battles transcended the Lady Indians' full-court press with a spot-on full-court pass to Markeshia Grant, who absorbed a foul and still converted the game-winning layup as the buzzer sounded. With a heartbreaking loss just seconds away, CF's two most dependable sophomores delivered a resounding victory on the road.
Battles and Grant also produced throughout the game leading up to the walk-off winner, tying for the team lead with 14 points apiece.
The Lady Patriots recovered from their frustrating double-digit loss to Indian River on Saturday and improved to 11-3 with the win. They continue their Panhandle swing Thursday at Tallahassee and Saturday at Gulf Coast, the latter presently ranked No. 1 nationally.
